Village Board to be Ceremonially Sworn In Tuesday

New board will discuss approval of the community parks improvement budget's to move the projects forward while still seeking additional cost savings.

Members of the new Sussex Village Board will be ceremonially sworn in at at the start of their meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Village Hall, N64W23760 Main St.

Although the new board officially began business last week, the ceremonial swearing-in will welcome new Village President Greg Goetz and trustees Jim Batzko, Jason Wegner and Tim Dietrich to the board after winning the positions in the April 5 election. Wegner and Dietrich were both re-elected while Batzko replaces Steve Berger who didn’t seek re-election.

Goetz, a former trustee, replaces Tony Lapcinski, who didn’t seek re-election.

The board will also discuss the approval of budgets for improvements to , and, which removed drinking fountains to bring the cost under the $240,000 alloted to the projects and direction to staff to find additional ways to save money.

One potential idea being explored is using a community build day where residents or Sussex area groups will construct the improvements at the parks in order to lower labor costs.
