Hot, mostly dry: After hitting a high temperature of 88 on Sunday, the temperatures are expected to drop a bit but will stay in the low 80s for most of the week, according to The Weather Channel forecast.

There is a chance of thunderstorms Sunday and Tuesday, but not much chance for rain during the rest of the week.

Busy night for trustees: If you love to watch local government in action, hang out at the Tuesday night as village officials will take on a variety of issues in committee meetings slated to start at 4:30 p.m.

Topics on the agendas include possible policies on social media use and Village Board salaries; an update on street and sidewalk projects now under way; and a discussion about residents leaving yard waste on the Bugline Trail.

Brownies, ice cream and more: The community will come together at Sussex's at the on Wednesday night.

The free event, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, will feature face painting, games and crafts for children, plus brownies and ice cream for everyone. The festivities will run from 6 to 8 p.m.

No weapons at Village Hall? Village officials on Thursday are expected to discuss whether concealed weapons should be banned for village buildings, an issue that is being debated in and other communities around the state.

The issue will likely come up at a meeting of the Village Board's Public Safety and Welfare Committee, which meets at 6 p.m. at the at N63W24335 Main St.

Fundraiser to beneft Alzheimer's group: CRL Senior Living Communities welcomes painting enthusiasts to their benefit which will feature a myriad of fresh food dips, wine, raffle items and, of course, art.

Tickets are $40 and all proceeds will benefit the Southeastern Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Association. The event will be held 6 to 9 p.m. at Sips N’ Strokes, W249N5267 Executive Drive.

Deadline looms for reading program: The folks at the Pauline Haass Library remind teens and children in the summer reading programs that Saturday is the deadline to show librarians just how much you've been reading.

Teens have until 1 p.m. to turn in their reading records. For every 15 hours of reading, participants have a chance to win some great prizes. Youngsters who their reading passport stamped by this day also will win a prize.
