Sussex Warms Up For Budget Season

A kickoff budget meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6 at the public safety building.

With Labor Day a few days away and kids returning to school, Sussex will be turning its collective attention to its favorite season of the year. 

No, not the football season. Budget season.

Village administrator Jeremy Smith told the Village Board on Tuesday that village staff was proofreading the proposed budget and planned to print it on Wednesday. The Village Board will receive the proposed budget by Friday, he indicated.

"So you can enjoy your Labor Day reading the budget if you want," Smith said to chuckles from Trustees. 

A kickoff budget meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6 at the . According to the village calendar, another budget meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 at Village Hall.

Budget meetings will be held on the first and last Thursdays of each month. Times and locations of those meetings are yet to be set. 

The Finance and Personnel Committee meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. until the end of the year. Those meetings will be held at . Note that some of those meetings may go into closed session if the discussion involves negotiations.
