Sussex to Talk Village Park at Outdoor Concert Thursday

This is your last chance to share your thoughts on the major redesign of Sussex Village Park, as well as the last Sounds of Sussex event this summer.

The last time to weigh in on the coincides with the last time local residents can jam to live music at .

The final event at the park behind is slated for Thursday from 6-8 p.m., and just like during , Sussex officials will be addressing comments on the Village Park project.

During National Night Out, the Village Administrator, along with members of the Village Board, set up stands with multiple artist renderings of the park’s projected design. Residents were told to ask questions and fill out comment cards to direct the Parks and Recreation staff toward potential changes.

And although the majority of have been negative, residents seemed to have plenty of about the park’s master plan during National Night Out.

The village is planning the last “open house” meeting during Sounds of Sussex to hopefully snag more comments, as the concert at Weyer Park generally garners a decent crowd.

Sounds of Sussex

While some residents are heading to the park to talk business, don’t forget this is the last Sounds of Sussex event of the summer.

West of East, a local alternative country band, will be rocking out on the open lawn near the . Residents are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to lounge on while enjoying the live music, a style the band describes as a cross between Norah Jones and Neko Case.

The village plans to cook burgers and brats during the show. This is also the first year the concert series has been approved to sell beer. So whether you’re there for a , a night out with the family or to weigh in on the Village Park project, there’s entertainment for everyone.
