Sussex to Examine Adult Business Restrictions

Village Attorney says recent court rulings are allowing municipalities to put more restrictions on adult businesses

Sussex leaders may soon re-examine the village’s laws regarding adult-orientated businesses to make sure the ordinance meets up with new standards.

Village Attorney John Macy said he’s recommending village leaders review the ordinance again because there have been some major changes on the national level, which allow communities to put additional restrictions on these businesses.

He said municipalities need to be very specific in terms of the secondary effects they are dealing with, and with the additional restrictions placed on such businesses.
