Reinders' Plan to Move to Sussex on the Fast Track

Company plans to relocate distribution and corporate offices into former Poly One building.

A plan to consolidate the shipping center and corporate offices of Reinders Inc. in Sussex has taken a major step forward.

The Sussex Plan Commission gave unanimous approval Thursday the conditional use plan, site plan and plan of operation that will allow the company to occupy the former Poly One location at W227N6225 Sussex Rd. by the end of the year.

With the company’s move to Sussex, the community will gain 90 full-time jobs. The move into the village will begin in fall.

Reinder’s Sussex site will contain 22,000 square feet of office space and 110,000 square feet of warehouse space in order to consolidate its distributions sites now located in Elm Grove, New Berlin and Wauwatosa. Employees at those locations will relocate to Sussex.

The company has been in business for 145 years and distributes products related to turf and landscape equipment and supplies. The company also distributes items to grocery stores and gas stations, such as firewood, rock salt and windshield washing fluid.

In addition to Wisconsin, Reinders also has locations in Minnesota, Illinois and Kansas

He said the company only operates one shift, which is 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, plus Saturday hours during peak season. Area residents will be able to purchase items at the Sussex facility and Reinders also has plans to expand its Waukesha facility, which has a strong on-site retail presence.
