Quiet Zones Could Become Reality Soon

Feds give village leaders OK to move forward with the establishment of railroad quiet zones in Sussex.

Things might get a little bit quieter on the east side of the village.

According to a report in the Sussex Sun, the Federal Railroad Administration has informed village leaders it has approved an application submitted to create quiet zones at rail crossings on the eastern area of the village.

Village leaders have sought to implement the zones in order to halt trains from blowing their whistles as they come through town. The rail crossings will need to be reconstructed as part of establishing a quiet zone.Β
