Quiet Zone Still in the Works in Sussex

Village officials meeting with the owner of Zell Machinery to work out a deal due to issues related to the business' driveway being interrupted by curbing requirements.

Village leaders are still in the process of having a quiet zone implemented in the village for trains passing through the area.

Village Administrator Jeremy Smith said the village is still working through the process of getting the zone implemented and is working through an issue at Silver Spring Road crossing where the driveway for Zell Machine is located and the need to put in curbing to meet Federal Rail Railroad Administration rules for quite zones in that area.

Trustee Tim Dietrich, who has been heavily involved in the quiet zone issue, said Waukesha County also wants a six foot terrace installed as well to define the opening.

Dietrich said village officials have met with the owner of the company numerous times to reach an agreement.

“I’m confident we will be able to reach an agreement,” he said.
