PHOTOS: Local Businesses Honored by Sussex President

Major events like the Sounds of Sussex and the 4th of July don't just happen on their own. Sussex honored local businesses responsible for footing part of the bill.

The Village of Sussex held a special ceremony during Tuesday night's Village Board meeting to honor local businesses who make the village a better place to live – through events.

Community gatherings like the 4th of July, Sounds of Sussex and the Rock-A-Thon are made better through donations from local businesses. Village President Greg Goetz thanked each business, generating a round of applause from the crowd.

“There are over 11 community events that are held in Sussex each year, and that’s mainly due to sponsors,” Goetz said. “Those events give us a small town charm. We would definitely still have events like these in the community, but they wouldn’t be nearly as great or fun-filled without sponsorships from local businesses.”
