First Main Street Workshop Set to Hash Out Construction Details

After gathering comments at , and after Sussex has set a date for its first workshop meeting on the Main Street reconstruction project.

The Village Board will meet at 6 p.m. May 15 at the on Main Street. The meeting won't take place at because officials are anticipating a large crowd. 

The purpose of the meeting is for the board members to begin to look over the comments gathered at the multiple public forums and begin to talk about the various options. Consultants from the design team will be on hand to answer any questions from the board. 

"This will be the first time the Village Board will have walked through the various options in detail," wrote Sussex officials on their website. "The Village Board may give direction to focus on certain options over others at the meeting, or may seek time to soak in all of the information from the meeting before giving any direction. A final direction on the Main Street project options will not occur at this meeting."

The village says there will be many other meetings similar to this one in which the Village Board can work together on creating a plan. Public information meetings are also expected to be scheduled over the next year to keep everyone informed during the refining process. 

"A final direction on the Main Street project options will not occur at this meeting."

Goetz regarding the project during a Village Board meeting in April, when he outlined the process the board plans to take regarding the construction project. 

“Ultimately, the Village Board will select a road and streetscape design later this year which may include elements of various concepts,” he said. “The Village Board will make that decision based on the comments from the public, how the plans accomplish goals of the community, and the cost factors associated with the plan elements.”

For those interesting in attending the May 15 meeting, enter the Public Safety Building from the east parking lot at the southernmost doorway. The meeting is being held in the building's training room.
