Developer Proposes Condos on Maple Avenue

There are several steps remaining for approval, but the project would include 50 two-family buildings.

A developer is proposing a 100-unit condominium development along Maple Avenue north of Lisbon Road in Sussex.

Developer Jim Forester wants to build 50 two-family condominiums, which would be assembled in 50 different designs. The Plan Commission reviewed the site plan Thursday and will send the proposal to a public hearing in August. The project still has several steps before it gets the green light.

The developer still needs to purchase the land from Waukesha State Bank, the village’s engineer must review the plan’s storm water management.

The project plan was brought before the Plan Commission last year, and included four variations, and 55 buildings.

The plot of land was once owned by Bielinski Homes, the developer responsible for the Brandon Oaks subdivision. Before going through “financial issues,” Bielinski had plans to build similar homes on the land.

Each side of the two-family homes will be somewhere between 1,400 and 1,800 square feet and start at roughly $200,000. All of the units will have basements, and there won’t be a common area like a clubhouse with a pool.
