Daily Recall Roundup: June 3

Here are the latest updates from the campaign trail in the Wisconsin gubernatorial recall election.

Every day between now and Tuesday's gubernatorial recall election, Patch will provide daily updates on what's happening on the campaign trail.

Check back with this column throughout the day for the latest recall-related news

5:30 p.m.: Jesse Jackson to campaign for Barrett

In a last-minute push to garner more votes, at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Bray Center, 926 Center St.

Organizers say the upcoming recall election on Tuesday is “too close to call,” and Jackson is in town to persuade African-Americans to head to the polls.

In conjunction with other organizations, Jackson has been working on Wisconsin issues through a program called “Power of the Vote.”

5 p.m.: Chuck Norris backs Scott Walker

Actor Chuck Norris is jumping into the Wisconsin recall battle, urging Wisconsinites to ignore President Bill Clinton and vote for Republican Gov. Scott Walker, The Huffington Post reports.

"Wisconsin Democrats, Washington elite and insiders, and liberal special interests have joined together to fight for the recall of Gov. Scott Walker in Wisconsin in Tuesday's election," wrote Norris in his latest column for the site WorldNetDaily. "But last Friday, when I saw them also send in the big guns, former President Bill Clinton himself, against Gov. Walker, I knew I had to enter the ring, too."

The Huffington Post says Norris didn't announce any plans to actually come to Wisconsin — as , who is running against Walker — but he encouraged readers to vote for Walker on Tuesday.

9:45 a.m.: Crime expert say he was misrepresented in Walker ad

A TV ad by Republican Gov. Scott Walker that blasts opponent Tom Barrett over the Milwaukee Police Department's issues with quotes a criminology professor as saying the problem illustrates "a failure of leadership."

But the University of Nebraska-Omaha professor whose quote is featured in the ad tell The Huffington Post that Walker misrepresented his views and is "absolutely wrong" to blame Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett for the problem.

"The governor misrepresented what I said," he said. "My comment was about the police department strictly. Mayors don't understand these things. They just accept what their police chiefs and police departments give them. ... The governor was absolutely wrong in saying the mayor was directly responsible for this."

7:30 a.m.: Walker, Barrett could cross paths in Brown County

Republican Gov. Scott Walker and his Democratic opponent in Tuesday's primary, Tom Barrett, are both scheduled to appear Sunday morning at the Brown County Dairy Breakfast in De Pere.

Walker is expected to show up at the event, at the Zirbel Dairy Farms,
6013 Morrison Road, at 8:45 a.m. Meanwhile, Barrett and U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl are scheduled to campaign arrive there are at 9:10 a.m.

After that event, Walker will head off to the Marathon County Dairy Breakfast at the NTC Agriculture Center of Excellence, 6625 County Road K, Wausau, where he's expected at 12:10 p.m.

He also will visit his campaign office in Germantown at 2:35 p.m. and in Fitchburg at 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, Kohl and Barrett will make an 11:15 a.m. campaign stop at the New Moon Café, 401 N Main St., Oshkosh.

After that, Barrett will meet with voters at Emy J’s, 1009 First St., Stevens Point, at 6 p.m.

I banged ReCall's mom back in 1988. She had an abortion but it must have lived.
Jim Bob June 4, 2012 at 04:49 pm
Walker certainly isn't turning into a Lincoln Republican.
Lyle Ruble June 4, 2012 at 05:04 pm
@JRH and Bewildered....There have been a number of times in our national history where we've seen one party control. The two most infamous periods were after the civil war until 1912 and from 1933 to 1952. Whether you're Democrat or Republican, it doesn't matter; it's not in the best interest for the citizenry to vest too much power in the hands of one political party. It is high time to think about the situation with clarity. All I want in Wisconsin is one chamber of the legislature, then it doesn't matter who is governor; balance will return.

Chuck Norris and American ICON??? To whom? I almost wet my pants on that one. Maybe for the WWW - RAW wrestling crowd or those who favor bad action movies about karate.. Norris was a bad actor who knew only one thing - karate moves. Let's talk about an icon - it could be a symbol used on the computer, or a religious figure of great renown, or a cultural icon as defined by Wikipedia:
A cultural icon can be a symbol, logo, picture, name, face, person, building or other image that is readily recognized and generally represents an object or concept with great cultural significance to a wide cultural group. A representation of an object or person, or that object or person may come to be regarded as having a special status as particularly representative of, or important to, or loved by, a particular group of people, a place, or a period in history. In the media, many well-known manifestations of popular culture have been described as "iconic". Some writers say that the word is overused. When it comes to Norris, this is a real stretch. And, when it comes to lies - Walker is the latest known to hold the corner on the market......He was recently tagged as the most untruthful governor in the nation.
Greg June 4, 2012 at 05:21 pm
Yep, Governor Walker has been tagged a lot of things, in this bogus recall. Barrett would be tagged too, but we get to go after him on merit. Since your side has nothing to promote you simply revert to tagging. It shows a mentality of a low life gang member. congrats.
Lyle Ruble June 4, 2012 at 05:43 pm
@Tosa720...Don't take Hoffa seriously about Norris. I have followed him for some time and he'll write things just to get a rise out of someone. You're better off just chuckling and watch who takes the bait.
Lyle Ruble June 4, 2012 at 05:46 pm
@Greg...It'll be all over tomorrow and we can move on to something else to fight about. No matter who wins, things will change very little. November is the "Big Show". The recall is only the opening act.
James R Hoffa June 4, 2012 at 05:50 pm
@Lyle -
Nicely said! However, in recent times, "balance" has come to equate to stagnation, inefficiency, and ineffectiveness. Sometimes, a little expedited implementation of a platform/agenda is a good thing, as we have regularly scheduled elections to prevent too many abuses from occurring and nothing that is done today can't be undone tomorrow when it comes to government.

Goofball Gwen Moore's poem is real entertainment. Watch this no talent ass clown dressed up like a Christmas tree embarrass all of you Democrats:

Alfred June 4, 2012 at 05:55 pm
A poem lacking rhyme, alliteration, assonance, meter and devoid of any metrical patterns, ah yes Gwen Moore, representing Milwaukee and Milwaukee Public Schools. Which one of you MPS thugs educated this buffoon? North Division High school must be so proud.
Chris June 4, 2012 at 06:11 pm
It is just incredibly intellectually bankrupt to say the nation is worse off if only one party is in control. Why? What if the one party that is in control does everything so well that the country prospers like never before? It's only disastrous if the policies enacted do damage, or have long term, unintended consequences. Should I say the sky is green, just because sees it that way, or should I stand my ground and insist it's blue, because I'm right?
Reminds me of a t-shirt I saw...said "If I agreed with you, then we'd both be wrong."
Tosa720 June 4, 2012 at 06:11 pm
Gwen's poem was meant to be entertainment and fun for the crowd - she brought her message through via a lighter side and it was participatory fun for the crowd too ....Never heard anyone laugh or enjoy themselves at a republican rally. So sad - the GOP needs to take the round hairbrush out and lighten up.... it doesn't matter how she dresses - it certainly doesn't affect you. you always take everything to such a personal level. That shows just so much bad taste.....
Alfred June 4, 2012 at 06:19 pm
A fine product of MPS, everytime she opens her cake hole she helps our side, keep her out there with the 'poems'.
Satori June 4, 2012 at 06:31 pm
For a drunken troll, you really take yourself seriously Al. Lighten up. Smile once.....and stop yelling at the neighbor kids when they run across your lawn.
Greg June 4, 2012 at 06:34 pm
"We don't want ya no mo"
Oh now I get the joke, it's funny to be uneducated. No wonder her son ended up being a criminal.
Bucky June 4, 2012 at 07:34 pm
@Bewildered ... I wasn't there and either were you but the young lady was. People that are present at events are a part of history. I didn't write the article. Take it for what its worth. Either you can believe it or not that's your choice.
Bucky June 4, 2012 at 07:38 pm
Greg
If you banged my mother back in 1988 that meant that you had to dig up her corpse. She had passed away long before that. Tells me what a perverted sick person you are. Have you banged any other dead people latly that you would like to tell us all about ?
Bucky June 4, 2012 at 09:11 pm
@Bewildered ... If I didn't spread my crap on here you would have nothing to eat.
Bucky June 4, 2012 at 09:13 pm
Good call Babykit !
Bucky June 4, 2012 at 09:17 pm
Got the story , posted and left for the day, didn't arrive home till late in the evening.
Bucky June 4, 2012 at 09:21 pm
Both of my parents passed away many years ago. Shows how clueless you really are. In fact for a dollar more I could have been your father .
Bewildered June 4, 2012 at 09:21 pm
Love it. Bucket finally admits he's been spreading crap. Hey Bucksters, time to get out of the shallow end, it's time for adult swim.
Bewildered June 4, 2012 at 09:24 pm
Hey Bucket, calling BS on your latest "excuse" for being an idiot.
Bucky June 4, 2012 at 10:18 pm
@Bewildered ... Where you just born plain stupid or have you been practicing all of your life ? Amazing how cowards like you can hide on a computer and and talk so stupid with the same old chit everyday. Get a life !
Bucky June 4, 2012 at 10:25 pm
@Bewildered ... Do you really think that I give a rats ass if I get banned from Patch ?
I'm only on here for shits and grins, and playing with people that have simple minds like you. Really you have to be kidding me.One jerk of your chain and you go physco. I bet you have kicked your dog so many times that it looks like a rug. Humor me some more please.
Greg June 5, 2012 at 12:06 am
She was not the best that I've had, but to call her a corpse goes a little far. Come to think of it she was a little more dirty than I like, but it was a long time ago and I may have been drunk.
Bewildered June 5, 2012 at 12:08 am
Ya OK! Stupid is as stupid does
Bucky June 5, 2012 at 12:39 am
@Greg ... Well Greg you do have several choices here. You can continue to have sex with your mother. Hang out at the farm with the sheep and horses. Stick with your hand or go to the funeral homes and get to the men before the mortician arrives.
Greg June 5, 2012 at 01:07 am
The fly on the water buffalo's back thinks he is taller than the water buffalo.
claire June 5, 2012 at 12:34 pm
I really would rather stay out of a persons bedroom. If there is a child, that's between the parties involved. I will be voting for Barrett simply because of the damage Walker has done to our state. He is bought and paid for by the Koch bros. and big money. My vote is not for sale.
