Sussex Shopko Reports Customer Using Forged Check

Milwaukee woman, 20, faces a felony charge in Waukesha County Circuit Court.

A 20-year-old Milwaukee woman is accused of using an altered check to purchase items from the Sussex Shopko store in August 2012.

Brianna M. Williams was charged on Sept. 11 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with forgery. If convicted, she faces up to three years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

Willams paid for items at Shopko using a forged check on Aug. 29, 2012, according to the complaint.

Williams admitted to the fraud, telling authorities the check was given to her by her cousin, who told Williams she wouldn’t get in trouble, according to the complaint.

Williams also admitted to using a fraudulent check at Target in Delafield, the compliant states.
