On March 7, Drljaca went to the Pewaukee store and tried to buy $41 in items with a forged check. He then presented it and a stolen license to the cashier, however, the cashier knew the man on the ID, and stopped the transaction.
Drljaca quickly left the store, but police later found him where he admitted to the attempt, saying he found a checkbook and ID in the parking lot.
