Sussex Man Gets Drunk and Breaks Into an Oconomowoc Home

A 35-year-old Sussex man is facing charges after he broke into a Town of Oconomowoc home after a night of drinking with friends.

Bryan M. Kinikin was charged in Thursday with one count of burglary. If convicted, he faces up to 12 ½ years in prison and $25,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On April 5, a man living in the W34100 block of Jaeckles Drive called police after he woke up and found Kinikin inside his home. Kinikin appeared intoxicated and asked the man if Julie was home, but the man responded that it was the wrong house and shoved him out the door.

The man then went to grab a cigarette, but found a pack that had been lying out was now gone. He then discovered his keys and a radio for the Okauchee Fire Department were missing, along with a wallet that had a check for $13,000 inside.

Later police interview Kinikin who said he was drinking at Foolery’s Liquid Therapy, then went to another bar on his bike before meeting up and drinking more with friends. He said he remembered being in a room and a man yelling at him, then running off and waking up later with a headache, a pack of cigarettes and a random check he didn’t know how he got.

However, Kinikin told his mother he found the check in a parking lot and told his brother he burglarized it from a home.

It should be noted that according the the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access System, Kinikin has also been charged with recklessly cause bodily harm to a child, disorderly conduct, battery and bail jumping.

He’s currently being held in Waukesha County Jail on $1,000 bond.
