Sussex Man Charged After Pill Overdose

Suspect's wife called police after he took too many Percocet and Diazpam pills at the same time.

A Sussex man is facing felony charges after overdosing on prescription pills for recreational purposes, causing his wife to call police.

Jacob A. Singer, 24, was charged in Tuesday with one count of possession of narcotic drugs and one count of possession of a controlled substance. If convicted, he faces up to three years and seven months in jail, and $10,500 in fines.

At 1 p.m. Monday, police were called to a residence in the W23500 block of Pitching Wedge Court after Singer took prescription pills and overdosed. When they arrived, Singer had a reddened face and lethargic movments.

Singer told police he took several Diazpam and Percocet in order to get a buzz.

His wife told police they had been married three or four months, Singer has a prescription pill problem and the two have been living separately. Singer told police he took several Diazpam and Percocet in order to get a buzz.

Police placed him under arrest, but while trying to take him out of the house, he began to scream at his wife and tried to charge at her.

He’s currently free on $1,000 bail while awaiting trial.
