2nd OWI Charge Filed Against Sussex Man Following Hit-and-Run

A 33-year-old Sussex man was arrested for his second drunken driving offense following a hit-and-run accident in the parking lot of Mug Shotz in City of Pewaukee, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.

David R. Henkel was arrested for operating while intoxicated at his home at 12:52 a.m. Sunday in the W23700 block of Butternut Lane.

Henkel was charged Tuesday with the second-offense OWI. He faces, if convicted, between five days and six months in jail, fines between $350 and $1,000 and having his driver’s license revoked between 12 and 18 months.

A person at the Mug Shotz bar saw a vehicle back into a parked car and provided Henkel’s license plate number to deputies. When deputies arrived at Henkel’s home, he admitted to consuming six beers, according to a criminal complaint.

Henkel’s blood alcohol concentration was .16 percent, according to the complaint.

• Harassment allegations between two parties remain under investigation in the N7400 block of Old Oak Road. A person claimed being harassed by an employer at 6:47 p.m. Jan. 21.
• A car vs. deer accident was reported at 2:16 a.m. Friday at Woodside Road and Braddock Place.
• A sick raccoon in the N6000 block of Maple Avenue was killed at 11:03 a.m. Sunday.
