Purse Snatched From Car On Main Street

Car was unlocked as owner patronizes local business for about a half an hour.

A purse was snatched from a car parked in a lot on Main Street in the village on Nov. 6. 

The theft occurred between 5 and 6 p.m. at N64W23044 Main Street, according to the Waukesha Sheriff's Department. 

The purse's owner left their car unlocked while patronizing a local business during that time.

"They came back out and the purse was gone," Waukesha County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Steve Pederson said. "We have this all of the time with people leaving their cars unlocked in their driveways, too. It's a common thing." 

If car owners wish to keep their doors unlocked, Pederson recommends them to not keep anything of value in their vehicles.

The purse contained personal items and an undetermined amount of cash.
