Police Reports: Tis the Season for Hitting Deer

This is a list of last week's most interesting police reports.

Not only is it deer hunting season, but by the looks of Sussex’s latest police reports, it’s also the season for accidentally smashing into a deer while driving your car. Here’s a list of the accidents that happened just last week:

  • Monday, Nov. 7 at 9:01 p.m.
    Silver Spring Drive & Mary Hill Road
  • Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 5:45 p.m.
    Lisbon Road & Highway 164
  • Friday, Nov. 11 at 6:48 p.m.
    Hwy 164 & Clover Drive
  • Saturday, Nov. 12 at 8:59 p.m.
    Main Street & Silver Spring Drive

 

Retail Theft
Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 1:11 p.m.
A 73-year-old Sussex woman was caught trying to steal from the Main Street on Tuesday. She attempted to walk out of the store with a bottle of Aleve, ibuprofen, a tube of toothpaste and other toiletries before she was caught by security and police were called.

Auto Entry
Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 12:40 a.m.
A 70-year-old Sussex man, living on the N. 6600 block of Westhaven Drive, called police after he noticed his Sony camcorder was missing from his car. The man said the last time he saw his camcorder was on Oct. 30. His car was unlocked and there were no signs of forced entry. 

Noise
Saturday, Nov. 12 at 12:40 a.m.
Police were called to the Stonegate Apartments on Stonegate Court for a noise complaint on Saturday, but discovered more than loud music. A 20-year-old male answered the door and police noticed he was underage and intoxicated. They issued a citation for underage drinking.

Disorderly Conduct
Saturday, Nov. 13 at 9:59 p.m.
A 52-year-old Sussex man called police from the Main Street ’s to tell law enforcement the cook at the restaurant assaulted him. Police arrived, and after looking around and talking with the residents involved, they decided the man who called was actually the problem. Police issued a disorderly conduct citation to the man who called the police.
