From a Sussex mother unable to care for her children to a fake officer trying to snag money from a local resident, this is a list of the most interesting police reports in the village.

I Smell a Fake Cop

Monday, Aug. 6 at 11:29 p.m.
Police were called to the W236N6500 block of Hillview Drive Monday afternoon after a 58-year-old Sussex man received some pretty disturbing calls. A man pretending to be a police officer continued to call the resident in order to get money from him. The Sussex man said he received multiple threatening calls. Police are investigating the problem.

Drunk Mommy

Monday, Aug. 6 at 5:22 p.m.
Police responded to the apartments on the N68W24800 block of Stonegate Court Monday evening after a local resident called saying she was concerned about the wellbeing of two children. A 47-year-old mother was apparently drinking heavily and was unable to take care of her children. Police called relatives to the scene to take care of the kids while the mother sobered up.

Youngsters Just Want to Bowl

Thursday, Aug. 9 at 6:13 p.m.
Employees at called police Thursday after a 5-and 6-year-old showed up to the local bowling alley unsupervised to play. According to the report, the parents didn’t know they were over there, so police had to locate the parents. Police were able to find the parents of the two children and told them “they shouldn’t be doing that.” Apparently the children lived across the street from the business.

iPhone Theft

Friday, Aug. 10 at 3:28 p.m.
A 22-year-old Sussex resident called police on Friday after returning to his car in the parking lot and noticing his iPhone was missing. Someone apparently entered his unlocked vehicle while he was shopping and snatched the phone off the front seat. Police aren’t taking any further action, but AT&T is attempting to locate the phone. The man apparently didn’t activate the “Find My iPhone” application.
