Bringing Down the Post Office

Police were called to the off Silver Spring Drive on Tuesday after a woman literally drove into the building. A 69-year-old Sussex woman told police she was applying pressure to the brake when her foot slipped, slamming down on the accelerator of her car. The vehicle jumped the curb and smashed into the post office. While there’s no structural damage to the building, the woman’s car received enough damage for the airbags to deploy. She sustained no injuries.

Stealing Tax Returns

A 54-year-old Sussex man living on the W245N5700 block of Partridge Lane called police after finding out someone filed a tax return in his name. “It’s happening a lot lately,” said Capt. Karen Ruff of the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department. “People will file tax returns in someone else’s name because they don’t have a social security number, maybe because they’re an illegal alien or something.” Police have no leads.

Fight, Hit, Kiss & Make Up

Police responded to apartment buildings on the W232N6000 block of Waukesha Avenue on Wednesday to break up a domestic fight. A 26-year-old Sussex man became upset with his 25-year-old Sussex girlfriend because she said she was going to move away. The man began throwing her things around the apartment and pushed her into a closet. However, the report says the boyfriend kissed her goodbye, so she won’t be pressing charges.

Selling Booze to Underage Kids – Three Times

Three different Sussex businesses were caught throughout the day on Thursday selling alcohol to underage police informants. As a part of the county’s alcohol procurement program, police take real underage teens to different businesses to see which ones are properly checking identification cards.

The first business to be hit was after an 18-year-old bought alcohol, and employees never checked his ID. The second business to be hit was . This time the bartender asked for an ID, but didn’t check the date close enough and served the teen anyway. The third time the teen was served was at . Each local business received a citation.

A Thief at M&M

Owners at on Main Street called police Friday morning after noticing some money was stolen overnight. While it’s still unknown how the burglars entered the building, according to the report, they stole money from a locked bank bag. There are no suspects yet, and police can’t release how much money was stolen as the details are an interrogation tool.

One Angry Milk Drinker

Police were called to a house on the W234N7800 block of Mallard Court Saturday after a 54-year-old woman called in with an unusual complaint. According to the report, an unknown assailant threw an entire carton of milk at a window. The glass was shattered, and police still have no suspects.

Plowing Over Bikers

Police responded to an accident between a car and a biker at the corner of Waukesha Avenue and Main Street Sunday after a 39-year-old Milwaukee man hit a 58-year-old Sussex biker with his car. According to the report, the Sussex man was stopped at the traffic lights going eastbound when a car pulled up next to him. The traffic lights turned green, and as the biker was turning, the Milwaukee man struck him from behind.

An ambulance arrived and determined the man did not need to be transferred to a hospital. The driver, however, was arrested for reckless driving, obstructing an officer and violating his ignition interlock, a device put on a car after someone gets arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
