Police Nab Free Laundry Suspect

28-year-old Sussex man cited for theft, taken into custody for two open warrants

A 28-year-old Sussex man was cited for theft on Oct. 12 after allegedly hacking into a washer and dryer in his apartment complex and doing his laundry for free. 

The man was also taken into custody for two open warrants after deputies apprehend him when he came to fetch is laundry at the Stonegate Court Apartments. 

The suspect used a key to use the coin-operated machines for free for a couple months, according to authorities.

Apartment management realized that their was something amiss when they saw no coins were in the machines' change boxes, according to authorities. Each machine, according to the sheriff, needs a $1.75 to operate.
