Man Waiting for Deer to Cross Road Finds Jail Instead

A 28-year-old Sussex man faces his third drunken driving charge and a felony drug charge after paramedics had to wake him up in his vehicle, according to a criminal complaint.

A 28-year-old Sussex man, who passed out behind the wheel while apparently waiting for deer to cross the road, was found with heroin in his vehicle, according to a criminal complaint.

Jason R. Wallace was charged Monday in Waukesha County Circuit Court with possession of narcotic drugs, operating while intoxicated-third offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains jailed in lieu of $1,000 bail, however, he is allowed work release while in jail, according to online court records.

Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department deputies were dispatched to Manner House Road in the Town of Ottawa at 9:01 p.m. June 7 for a report of a stationary vehicle in the roadway with the engine revving at high speed, according to the criminal complaint.

When they arrived on scene, they found Dousman paramedics attempting to wake up Wallace, who was snoring, slumped over and appeared to be passed out, according to the complaint.

Three to five minutes later, Wallace woke up but he was groggy with blood shot eyes and drool coming from his mouth. A deputy found a syringe, pipe and drugs in the car, the complaint states.

Wallace told the deputy he used drugs at Wales Community Park before getting behind the wheel. The last thing he remembered was stopping the vehicle for four deer crossing the road, according to the complaint.

Wallace previously was convicted of intoxicated driving in July 2005 and January 2008.
