$2K Bail Set For Defendant in Comanche Lane Standoff

A concerned person reported to the Waukesha Police Department that Kelly Shaw, 58, threatened to "shoot up the place" where Shaw's wife works, according to the police department's call log.

After Kelly Shaw, 58, was arrested on serious weapon-related domestic violence allegations, his wife told police she didn’t contact authorities because she feared a shootout, according to a criminal complaint.

“(The woman) is and come to her work and do something to her and to other employees where she works,” the complaint states. “(The wife) stated the defendant has threatened to come and shoot everyone there.”

The Waukesha Police Department received a call about Shaw over the weekend involving an alleged threat to his wife’s business. A Waukesha father of Shaw’s wife’s coworker contacted police at 5:56 p.m. Friday with concerns about a call made by Shaw to Shaw’s wife’s place of employment. The man told police Shaw threatened “to shoot up the place,” according to the Waukesha Police Department’s call log,

A Waukesha police officer spoke with the caller and advised the father Shaw is in custody and is being guarded by Waukesha County Sheriff’s deputies. No incident report was filed about the third-party report.

Meanwhile, a Waukesha County court commissioner set bail at $2,000 Monday when Shaw appeared in court on three misdemeanor charges.

Shaw wasn’t in court last Wednesday because he was hospitalized. The person who posted the $2,000 bail for Shaw to be released from jail asked for the money back. The judge complied with the request and issued a warrant for Shaw’s arrest.

“He wasn’t aware of the details at all at the time that he posted that bail,” said Anthony Cotton, the attorney for the person who posted the bail, according to Fox 6. “We’re asking that that be refunded to the poster. If Mr. Shaw has the ability to post the bail, he can do so. It’s a very serious case. My client believes Shaw poses a serious risk to the community and he’s not prepared to support him financially.”

Shaw is charged with three domestic abuse-related misdemeanors: pointing a firearm at another person, and two counts of disorderly conduct with use of a dangerous weapon. He faces up to 27 months in jail and $12,000 in fines, if convicted of all three charges. He remains jailed in lieu of $2,000 bail.

Shaw was arrested Dec. 5 after police were told he threatened to kill his wife and would shoot at police if they responded to his home at 3001 E. View Court, according to the criminal complaint. Officers knew there were several firearms in the home, so they made many announcements for Shaw to exit the residence. After a four-hour standoff, he was taken into custody on a mental commitment.

It's so sad to see our cousin act like this. I remember so well when he was born, grew up to be a successful business man and then at 28 he passed out one day--he was a bad diabetic. He has been given so many experimental drugs over 35 years and knowing this, I think the drugs affected him to the point he gets out-of-control and he needs a good lawyer to study all the drugs and the chemical conflicts that have resulted in ruining his life! This has been an outrage to know the truth and also know the great guy in life he has been!

My cousin, Kelly, should suit the doctors for all the experimental drugs they given him for his bad diabestes over 30 long years! He was never like this! It's an outrage to read these comments because I know no one knows the truth. He just blows his mouth off when he gets mad. He dearly loves his wife, Faye, and would never hurt her. I get the feeling the police back there should be chasing murderers and instead they are trying to find the helpless, harmless diabetic to beat up on!!! He shouldn't be charged anything for bail. The previous incident was over a guy in a pool haul that had illegal gambling machines hidden in his back room. Kelly saw them and the guy got defensive. The next thing you know, he is accusing Kelly of fallacious behavior. I think that guy that has those machines should be in jail and have a giant bail slapped on him. He has tried to ban my cousin from his pool hall after he sold it so he can keep his illegal activites a secret--the police should be all over that man not my cousin!
