Rediscover the Bugline

After giving up nearly two months of prime bike riding, my youngest and I discovered earlier this week that the Bugline Recreational Trail (west of 164) is open and paved! Our morning bike ride was smooth and almost effortless. This segment of the trail is straight and flat. The foliage is beginning to turn, so its a picturesque ride as well. Just before crossing Lake Five Road, we stopped at Lisbon Community Park to play at the playground.

If its been a while for you too, seize the day and take a walk, jog or ride a bike on the Bugline Trail. For those who may be unfamiliar with the Bugline, here are two easy spots to pick up the trail in the Sussex area:

1.  Park on the north end of either the Pick N Save or Waukesha State Bank parking lots near 164 and VV. The newly paved trail goes under 164 and continues north and west to Merton.

2. Just past the west end of Ace Hardware's parking lot on VV, you'll spot the green trail sign and the original crushed gravel path. (This segment of the trail won't be paved until 2014.)
