Learn to Swim at Arrowhead High School

Swim lessons at an affordable price, right down the road!

Being able to swim is one of those important life skills that all children should learn.

Just as I was ready to bite the bullet and sign up with the , a friend told me about affordable swim lessons at Arrowhead High School’s pool.

I made a call to the AHS pool office and jumped in my car to register for swim lessons the very next day. I was amazed to hear about this unfamiliar community resource, located just 7 miles west down Lisbon Rd./County K.

Swim lessons follow the lessons structure of the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program and are taught by certified swim instructors.

Parent/Tot water exploration classes are available for ages 6 months to 5 years.

Lessons without a parent in the water begin with children age 3 and up with Level I. A child must pass skills testing with a swim instructor to advance to Levels II-VI.

There are a wide array of class times offered, including options for two-, three- and five-days-a-week during the morning, afternoon and evening. Each class is 30-45 minutes long. Prices vary, by run $30-$50 for each three-week session.

My older daughters started lessons this Tuesday. I was wary about how this first week would go because my girls have gotten used to “swimming” with life jackets on. As we pulled up to the first class, my second daughter said she was nervous about going in the pool without her life vest.

The two instructors for Level I were friendly and playful. By the end of that first class both my girls were completely at ease in the water, jumping into the pool, floating on their back, and kicking with a noodle through the deep end.

My only wish is I should have heard about swim lessons at AHS sooner!

There are still openings for the third and final summer session which begins July 23. To find out more information call AHS pool office: 262-369-3612 Ext.4839.
