We need your help at Sussex Outreach!

Dear Fantastic Sussex Community-

Here at Sussex Outreach Services, we are facing uncertain times.  Many of the proposed budget cuts have potentially devastating effects on the clients here at Sussex Outreach Services.  Our clients are your friends, neighbors, your child’s classmates, and co-workers.  They are single parents, intergenerational families, seniors living on fixed incomes and those hard working folks who are working as long and hard as they can.  By the time people have reached out for food, they have greater needs, such as transportation, medical, energy and housing.

WIC is a preventive program providing low-income pregnant women, new mothers, and children up to age five with nutritious foods, education and advocacy. The program also provides improved access to health care in order to prevent nutrition-related health problems.  The children served by SOS are going to need formula, juice, milk, cereal, and other important food items, since this valuable program may disappear by mid-October.

The people who rely on SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) are going to turn to their local resources, us, for help.  These folks are doing what they can to make ends meet, but with unemployment and underemployment, it isn’t enough.  We do not have the sufficient resources at this time to help them put food on the table or pay essential bills.

We are desperate for your help.  There are so many ways that you and your business can give!  I would be happy to meet with you to speak about the poverty that I see or come to tour the Food Pantry and see all the good that we do.  Email me at director@sussexareasos.org or call 262-347-3563.
