Sussex to Enjoy Ice Cream & Million-Dollar Construction Talks

The village's National Night Out and ice cream social on Wednesday will also be home to discussions on the Sussex Village Park master plan.

Between enjoying Sussex's annual event and the Pauline Hass Library's , village residents can learn more about the multi-million dollar renovation project to reconstruct .

Starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the parking lot, residents will be able to ask any questions they still have about the project. Village officials scheduled the “open house” style meeting during National Night Out and the library’s ice cream social so more people would be available to ask questions.

But National Night Out and the ice cream social aren’t supposed to be all work and no play. The annual get together draws a huge crowd, with activities specifically geared toward children. There will be free items for kids, bicycle helmet fitting (bring your helmet), diabetic screenings and fire and police demonstrations.

The library’s ice cream social also boasts “old fashioned prices” as its tagline. Although it’s considered a fundraiser, ice cream and brownies will only be 25 cents. The library also plans to have crafts and games, making the entire night a family-friendly event.
