No Need To Freak Out, Computer Glitch Sends Out Overdue Library Notices
An email was sent Wednesday to library users stating they have fines for materials returned two months ago.
A glitch with the countywide library computer system sent out overdue notices Wednesday to Pauline Haass Public Library users stating they have to pay fines for materials that were due back at the library in August.
“The CAFÉ Consortium was testing some new language in overdue notices with old data and accidentally sent out messages to our customers,” states a post on the Pauline Haass Public Library page. You can disregard notices sent out this morning for items that were due in August.”
The Pewaukee Library’s Facebook page and Waukesha Patch Facebook page the also shows a similar message to its users.

Here's what some people are saying on the Pauline Haass Public Library Facebook page:
- Yup, got one. No worries!
- Mistakes happen! Thanks for letting us know!
The libary responded with this: Seems like we could all use a giant OOPS!! sign to carry around at some point or another! We DO think you're going to love the new catalog that accidentally generated this particular OOPS. You'll even be able to save searches (your favorite author, a subject you like to read about, etc.) and get weekly or monthly e-mails letting you know when something new that meets your search criteria has been added at any library in the county.
