Tablets Vs. Laptop - which one should you get?

Tablet or Laptop....Which is better?

This is something we are asked often by people entering our computer repair shop in Sussex, and the answer is not simple. It really depends on your specific needs, and how you use technology. Below we will list some advantages laptops have over tablets, and vice versa.

The Tablet:

The tablet is a great tool for those who travel a lot and want something small to carry along to do basic activities like checking emails, going online, watching netflix/movies, reading ebooks, and going on social media websites. Tablets are focused around apps and widgets, which provide you with a quick and intuitive way of accessing your programs.

Over the laptop, most tablets have a higher battery life, and are much easier to lug around when you are travelling. Their light weight design allows you to access information on the fly, while walking or standing - unlike most laptops in which you would have to find a table near an outlet to use.

You should get a tablet if:
You do a lot of traveling
You only really need a device for basic things such as email, social media, movies, and reading
You don't use programs outside of word, excel, and email
you don't need to store much information on your computer

Laptops

Laptops will certainly have their place in the technology industry for a while simply because they have more power and functionality above tablets. Laptops, although they are larger and heavier than tablets, are able to run many programs that tablets simply don't have the processing power or memory to run. For example, advanced programs such as photo and video editing and pc games can only be run on a desktop or laptop.

You should get a laptop if:
You have specific programs that you use on a daily basis (accounting software, editing software..etc)
You prefer faster speeds and processing power
you like to play PC games
You need a lot of hard drive space.

As you can see, both pc's and tablets have their advantages and disadvantages. Tablets are great to move around, but have limited functionality and typically have smaller hard drive space. Laptops can have tons of processing power and can run a large amount of programs, but they are large and can be difficult to carry around.
