In 2012, stories about what's happening at the village's bars and restaurants topped our list of most-popular reads.

Every day between now and the end of the year, Sussex Patch will feature the most popular stories of the year — broken down by topic. Here's a look at our readers' favorite business-related stories of 2012. Stories are ranked by popularity, which means the ones that were the most well-read are at the top of our list.

If you're having trouble keeping track of the name of the bar at N64W22480 Main St., we can't really blame you. Our No. 1  business story of the year was written in April, when the former Dive Bar changed its name to Benchwarmers.

That didn't last long and the popular volleyball/sports bar has since gone back to its original name, Sussex Place.

2. Marcileno's Pizzeria & Grill Opens on Main Street

After nearly a year of preparation, Marcileno's opened its doors in January at N64W24370 Main St., in the same location at the old Pepino’s Pizza. The pizzeria, which has a boasts that is uses the freshest ingredients and that every pizza is custom made.

3. Rumors Sports Bar Gets Warm Welcome from Sussex

Shortly after Rumors opened at a former Hardee's location at W232N6368 Waukesha Ave., Patch paid the sports bar a visit and talked to co-owner Andrea Reece about what make the establishment special.

Keeping with the sports bar theme, our No. 4 story goes back to January, when the owners of the former Dive Bar said they were changingt the establishment's name and making some staffing changes. The actions came after village officials said there were “some significant problems with the establishment."

The announcement came just three months after the name of the bar was changed from the Sussex Place, which — as noted earlier — is once again its name.

5. Sussex Blockbuster Closes Its Doors for Good

The Blockbuster video store chain has fallen on hard times nationwide, which has resulted in hundreds of stores being closed around the country. The local store at N65W24838 Main St. became one of the casualties in early 2012.
