Texas-Style Barbecue, New Sports Pub to Open Soon

Here's a look at what's new on the local food, restaurant and bar scene.

Bank Being Converted into Pub in Greendale

Last week, we told you that plans for a Chick-fil-A in Greendale have been put on the back burner, but that things are full speed ahead for another new restaurant in that village. Construction is under way for the Panther Pub & Eatery, which will be located on Broad Street in downtown Greendale. The restaurant, which is located in a former Associated Bank building will seat about 95 people and will include a 40-person outdoor dining patio.

There's no date yet on when the sports bar will open, but you can get regular updates on the business' Facebook page. In fact, if you'd like to suggest a menu item or two, owner Mike Drilling is looking for suggestions. Read more from Greendale Patch.

Texas Barbecue Joint to Open in Pewaukee

In the mood for some southern pulled pork or Texas-style ribs? Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, a quick-service authentic Texas barbecue restaurant, will soon open its eighth Wisconsin franchise in Pewaukee. The new location in the Pewaukee Commons at 1275 N. Capitol Drive is 2,800 square-feet and will offer the full Dickey’s menu, which includes ribs, Virgina-style ham, and Texas-style chopped beef brisket. No word yet on an exact opening date. The Bay Opens it Doors in The Bay

What's being described as a "community focused" restaurant — with Milwaukee-brewed beers and fresh ingredients from local vendors — and opened last week on Silver Spring Drive in Whitefish Bay. The menu at The Bay includes burgers, salmon, andouille-encrusted cod, and hanger steak and fries. The Bay serves bottled beers, primarily from local breweries like Lakefront, Horny Goat, Milwaukee Brewing Company, Big Bay and others. Read more on Whitefish Bay Patch.

Pita Pit Coming to Milwaukee's East Side

Pita Pit, a restaurant chain that focuses on "fresh thinking and healthy eating," will open its first Milwaukee store in July on Milwaukee's East side, the Business Journal reports. The restaurant will be located next to the Oriental Theatre at 2222-2224 N. Farwell Ave. Pita Pit, which has one location in Madison, is a fast-casual chain that serves sandwiches wrapped in pita bread. Read more in the Business Journal.

Popular Shorewood Bar Plans Expansion

Speaking of the North Shore, the popular Camp Bar on Oakland Avenue in Shorewood, which opened just six months ago, is already expanding. The bar is opening what it's calling "The Cabin" this week. The expansion will feature additional seating for about 50 patrons, a large back bar and fireplace, with the entrance near the back of the main bar. Read more on Shorewood Patch.

A New Time for Miller Time

Miller Time Pub & Grill, located in downtown Milwaukee, will have a new concept that will offer "a comfortable, neighborhood social spot while paying homage to its beer-inspired roots," according to OnMilwaukee.com. The core of the concept is to pair beer and food, and certified beer experts will be available to help guests find perfect beer pairings for every menu selection, the website reports. The expanded menu features a variety of specially crafted burgers, along with lighter salads, hearty entrees including crab cakes, fish, chicken, steak and a selection of desserts.
