Meijer Finishes Work with Sussex Plan Commission

Meijer's driveway and parking lot plans met muster last week. The Sussex store is one of five the company hopes to build as it enters the Milwaukee market.

Meijer received approvals for its parking lot and driveway from the Sussex Plan Commission last week, according to The Business Journal of Milwaukee, the last ones it needs from that panel.

The store, to be built at the intersection of Highway K and Highway 164, is expected to provide at least 200 jobs. An informal poll of Sussex Patch readers found general support for the project.

Meijer is also trying to build stores in Wauwatosa, Grafton, Kenosha and Oak Creek. A Milwaukee-area grocery analyst said earlier this year that Meijer’s entrance into the market is a serious threat to Pick 'n Save.
