Chuck's Main Street Is in The Trust Business

On the surface, Chuck's Main Street Auto is your everyday repair shop where expert repairmen work underneath hoods replacing parts, recalibrating systems and rejuvenating cars with oil changes and tune ups.    

But according to the owner, Chuck Hoffmann, the shop is really just in the business of trust. 

"We are a small town business and we treat cars like their our own or our family's," Hoffmann said. "We take care of it the right way. I don't install things that are not needed, just things that are needed." 

Instead of replacing any part that may be a bit worn, Hoffmann takes into account the age of the vehicle and the part before making the expensive repair. 

"It may not be in the tip-top shape, but if it's not going to effect the safety of the car or the overall performance … it may not be needed," Hoffmann said. "People can't afford to spend every dime they have on their car."

Hoffmann has been in the auto repair business pretty much his entire life. He started pumping gas when he was a teenager and took a few auto repair classes early in his career. 

He then ran an auto repair business for 20 years in Menomonee Falls before coming to Sussex six years ago. 

"It's about the mechanics and how things work more than anything," said Hoffmann, 47, in describing why he enjoys the auto repair business. 

Hoffmann offers a full range of general automotive repair services including brakes, shocks, struts, tires and battery replacement. Chuck's also provides emission testing for the state. 

Hoffmann gives this simple piece of advice to any small business owner:  "You treat people exactly how you want to be treated." 

The business is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, the shop is open until 5 p.m. On Saturdays, the shop is open from 8 a.m. to noon.
