"In total, the sale impacted 82 employees," Beeson said. "Our intention is to find other job opportunities for all 82 employees by April 20, and as of today, half of those employees have received job offers from Aurora."

And Walgreens has already stepped in to take control. Aurora's phone number now leads callers directly to the Walgreens store on the corner of Main Street and Hwy 164. The automated message even tells callers it purchased Aurora's list of clients and plans to be their pharmaceutical provider henceforth.

However, according to Sussex resident Dyan Oleson Brinkman, the transfer of power is not a good thing.

"I am SO upset by this," Brinkman said in a comment on Patch's Facebook page. "Walgreens doesn't accept my insurance (Anthem/Wellpoint), now I have to go into Waukesha or Menomonee Falls for my prescriptions.... NOT HAPPY!"

The pharmacy chain now has 71 stand-alone storefronts. Beeson said the company will go in to collect the store's inventory to redistribute to its other pharmacies, leaving it an empty storefront in Sussex.
