"Stuck" 1st in Studio series by Falls Patio Players

Falls Patio Players is excited to announce our second annual Studio Series,
"Captivating," featuring intriguing stories of people trapped or confined
- and how they manage to escape.

The Studio Series involves the actors with scripts in hand, employing
minimal movement, and reading a play aloud, focusing on the text rather than on
production. This type of presentation, commonly called "reader’s theatre,"
allows the audience a unique chance to hear not only the characters’ lines, but
also the playwright’s stage directions. It is an opportunity to see that “first
day of rehearsal” when actors meet text. Also, it allows us as a company to
explore work that might not be done as part of our main-stage series due to more
mature themes, broader technical scope, or requiring more intimate space. The
audience for this event will be invited to sit on the stage, providing for a
uniquely “theatrical” evening.

A modern-day screwball comedy finds Ella, an agoraphobic elevator operator,
privy to one wife’s obsession with proving that her traveling husband, Ian, is
unfaithful. Ella reveals the secrets of her confined lifestyle (she lives in the
elevator,) as Ian discovers the truth about his marriage. STUCK is a
light-hearted lesson in trust and compassion. Developed at UW-Whitewater in
2008, STUCK professionally premiered at In Tandem Theatre in Milwaukee in early
2010.
