Sussex Week Ahead: Hamilton Play and Humane Society at Village Park

From a new performance at the Hamilton Fine Arts Center to HAWS's annual Pet Walkathon, this is a list of the places to be and things to do this week in Sussex.

"Any Number Can Die"

Hamilton High School Drama Department
Performance dates: May 3 - 5 at 7 p.m., and May 6 at 2 p.m.

Any Number Can Die is described as a “A hilarious take off on the mystery plays of the twenties complete with sliding panels, robed figures, wills being read at midnight, etc. Four ingenious murders take place in an island mansion as a pair of elderly detectives set to work on their first case. The ever popular storm, the unexpected guests, the cryptic poem, and the missing fortune all add to the intricate and inventive mystery off which the laughs bounce." This production is set to be performed at the , and is sponsored in part by the Hamilton Education Foundation.

Tickets are either $8 for adults, or $5 for students and seniors.

HAWS Pet Walkathon

On the first Saturday of May each year, hundreds of pet lovers high-tail it to this day-long festival of pets and their people in support of the Humane Animal Welfare Society. And this year the group is at from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Your participation and pledges provide proper care, food, bedding, toys and lots of attention for the animals in need at HAWS. Funds are also used to support HAWS' humane education programs, which promote responsible pet ownership and prevent animal abuse.

And there's more to do than just walk. Residents can visit vendor booths and do some shopping, participate in contests and games, have a tasty lunch, meet adoptable pets from HAWS, enjoy meeting up with old friends and make new ones. Best of all: 100 percent of the money raised for this event goes straight to HAWS.

Walkathon Highlights

  • Pet microchipping ($20) or nailclipping ($5) 
  • Paw Print clay craft ($3) 
  • Get a personalized Pet I.D. tag from the HAWS Mobile Adoption Unit ($3) 
  • Slots Game ($1), "Win at the Walk" raffle ($5/ticket or 3 for $10) 
  • Visit many vendor booths for merchandise, information and samples 
  • Have lunch - food and beverages will be available for purchase 
  • HAWS Bake Sale Bakers will be selling yummy homebaked treats
