Sussex Food Pantry to Receive a Portion of $258K in Food, Cash

As part of a five-day tour by Pick n Save/Roundy's, Sussex Food Pantry will benefit by receiving a share of $258,000 in total donations from the grocery chain

The truck will roll up to the Pick 'n Save in Menomonee Falls on Tuesday, April 9 to deliver to Sussex Food Pantry, as well as a few others in the area.

Pick ‘n Save employees will be in the parking lot unloading a semi-truck full of nearly 34,000 pounds of food that will be handed over to representatives from area food pantries who are feeling the strain of the economy and increased demand. Representatives from the Roundy’s Foundation will also be presenting a check to each food pantry.

The event will be part of a five-day, 14-city, bi-annual Roundy’s Foundation Focused on Feeding Families Tour to make donations to six local food pantries.

Residents Can up the Ante to Increase the Donation from Roundy's

In conjunction with the Focused on Feeding Families Tour, Roundy’s Foundation is hosting the Recipe Face-Off Facebook Competition, in which fans of the Roundy’s Foundation Facebook page  have until April 30 to submit a recipe in hopes of winning a food donation for their favorite food pantry.

Submissions must include items from five pre-selected ingredients that are commonly found at a food pantry and be a dish that is kid-friendly. A panel of judges will then determine the top three recipe submissions to move on to the final voting round. Facebook fans will make the final decision by going to the Roundy’s Foundation Facebook page and “Liking” their favorite recipe. The Roundy’s Foundation will make a food donation to the food pantry chosen by the winner.
