Great Escape: Scenic Rotary Park in the Heart of Menomonee Falls

Nineteen acres of fun and adventure waiting.

Every week, Patch will highlight a “Great Escape” located in the Menomonee Falls-Sussex area where couples, singles, families or groups can have fun and relax.

This week we take a stroll over to spacious Rotary Park.

This active multi-purpose park was donated to the Village of Menomonee Falls by the Walter Diehnelt family at the local Rotary Park in 1962. The park was originally named Walter Diehnelt Memorial Park.

The scenic park is a primary spot for groups, singles and family gatherings, and offers several activities such as hiking on trails that have a beautiful view of the Menomonee River, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, toddler play areas and a softball diamond. The multi-purpose trails can be used for wildlife adventure hikes and walking, jogging and snowshoeing excursions. During the fall, local high schools use the trails for cross-country competitions.

Looking to have a fun picnic? There are two shelters on the park grounds that can be reserved. A larger shelter located on the east side of the river has a barbeque pit and fireplace, and a smaller one is located on the west side of the river. Picnic tables are sprawled throughout the shelter areas, and restrooms and drinking fountains are located nearby for added convenience.

The main access point to the park is located west of Lilly Road, between Fond du Lac Avenue and Menomonee Avenue. There are accessible parking lots at the park, or on-street parking surrounding the park area.
