Now more than ever we need a leader like Tommy Thompson representing Wisconsin in Washington.
At a time when Congressional approval ratings are at an all time low and there is prolonged gridlock in Washington, we need a senator that is able to build coalitions, inspire change and do the important work of the people. At a time when the national unemployment rate is over 8%, we need a leader who helped create 800,000 new jobs as governor and cut Wisconsin's unemployment rate in half.
Tommy has a proven record over 14 years as governor of creating jobs, balancing budgets, cutting taxes, implementing welfare reform and being a champion of school choice. Like no other governor in the history of this great state, his tenure resulted in greater job growth and prosperity.
No one has his experience and no one has demonstrated the ability to find common ground and bring about change like Tommy. He is a principled leader with conservative credentials. However, he is more a pragmatist than a partisan, more a statesman than a politician.
Tommy will no doubt make job creation the top priority as he did when he was governor. He will focus like a laser beam on getting our economy back on track by reigning in spending, cutting taxes, and streamlining onerous business regulations which stifle job creation. When you look at the field, there is only one clear choice for Wisconsin this year, Tommy Thompson.
