Ten-Hour Touchpoint

I have amazed and astounded Laura. I've been reading the same book - "Voyager" - for 10 hours now. She, on the other hand, is Wonder Woman to me. She has finished a biography of the Thames, some graphic novels, a little manga, Salinger and is on to Veronica Roth's "Insurgent." While she's read books, I've read pages.

We've taken a short break to brew tea and refresh our glasses of water, having feasted on pizza and garlic breadsticks, only to regret the carbohydrate infusion shortly thereafter. The fire is still crackling and the cats are still wandering about from one soft and comfortable surface to another.

I think I have a few hours left in me, but we'll see how true that holds. Laura, brave woman that she is, is still pushing to finish 24 hours.

How can the Thames have a biography? A history, sure. A travel documentary would work.
What are the graphic novels she read?
I may have to try a Gabaldon since you are so ga-ga about her.

Hmmmm . . . I don't know! But here's the book on the Thames that she read: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/928796.The_Thames. I can tell you found the chapter on sewage scintillating! ;)

As for the graphic novel - it was Mercury by Hope Larson.

Is Voyager part of Gabaldon's Outlander series?

@Randy1949 - Yes, it's the third book in the Outlander series. :)

And how did you like it?

Diana Gabaldon and I have an uneasy relationship because of her condescending remarks about fanfiction, FYI.

I like the series a lot. I had actually started reading it several years ago, but made the mistake of trying to read all of the books back to back to back and got very, very overwhelmed. So I gave up after the second book. I have all of the books published to date - I know she is working on another, the eighth or ninth - and I'm working my way through them all. But I'm taking other breaks in between. Sometimes I really feel overwhelmed at the scope of the narrative and the size of the books - I believe the shortest is around 900 pages - but I'm always drawn in by the characters.
