Is there a "Free Lunch"?
Many today, especially those in need, have subscribed to liberal tenants that insist you can reconcile needs by taxing business, or the wealthy. What is overlooked is the reality that the cost we subject business to must be born by the consumer.
In addition, and more important, is that the envy of the wealthy has created a movement that disregards reality, altogether. The wealthy did not "extort" their fortune. A willing public decided they wanted the goods or services provided.
At a time when all are finding our condition challenging, it would do us well to consider the clear thinking offered by Milt Friedman.

Unlike politicians that pander for votes, he correctly acknowledges the reality that many overlook. If we would simply accept reality, and refuse to allow legislators to craft legislation that prevents our healing, we could recover.

I always find it interesting to see others explain and show their understanding and working knowledge of economics.

Classic Friedman. Spot on as always. Or you can smoke a doobie and kid yourself into thinking guvmint gets it done. "There is no free lunch" is something lost on generations of moochers and the shrewd politicians who gain power over them. The chickens are coming home to roost. Essensial services are beginning to fail, and taxes are going to pay unproductive overhead like pensions and interest on debt. Our pockets have been picked clean. This won't end well.

@C. Sanders, I agree with you about the censorship on the Patch. At least Yahoo lets your opinions stand when commenting on their new stories. The Patch, and Huffington Post as well as a lot of state newspapers are quick to delete online comments and outright ban you for making even a semi tough comment. The thought police are out in force and they've been given orders "PROTECT KING OBAMA"

Milt has pointed out the reality of economics.
Unfortunate that so many believe you can manipulate that reality through legislation without causing the disadvantaged to be in a submissive position. Liberals continue to suggest they understand economics while there only offering is to reduce those that are earning to supplicate those in need.
