A Clean Sweep: Spring Cleaning is Back

Spring has sprung! Its time for our annual Spring Cleaning Brigade.

We wash windows, vacuum under the couch, swipe cobwebs and clean out closets.

Growing up with a dad who is an appliance repairman, I was taught at a young age to take good care of my things. One of those things you don’t want failing is your refrigerator.

Yesterday, armed with a flashlight, a vacuum and an extra long cleaning brush, I banished the dust bunnies under our refrigerator. First I pulled out the refrigerator, then I unplugged the power cord. Next, I pulled off the toe panel at the bottom and turned on the vacuum. Using the brush (you could use a narrow paint brush), I cleaned the condenser coil.

Start to finish, it's a job that takes 20 minutes. And it's a simple way to keep your refrigerator running efficiently.

Next on the docket: clean out dryer vent piping.

What’s on your spring cleaning list?

Actually, the dryer vent piping is on our list for this weekend! :) I will hit the spring cleaning hard once the kids are done with school in June. I really need to run a clean on my oven, but we've had problems in the past where it blows a fuse in the oven when it's on clean - crossing my fingers it'll be fine this time. Of course, there will be cleaning of the cupboards (inside and out), cleaning closets, and going through toyboxes. That refrigerator coil cleaning also needs to be done... thanks for the reminder. :)
