Woman Says Her Son is Landlord of Gunman in Temple Shooting

Woman describes shooter — who lives in Cudahy — as "quiet" and said he had just broken up with his girlfriend.

As authorities searched a home in Cudahy Sunday evening believed to be the residence of the man who shot and killed six people at an Oak Creek Sikh temple, a woman whose son owns that home shed some light on the alleged shooter.

The mother of the suspect’s landlord told Patch Sunday she believed the man had “just broken up with his girlfriend.”

“He’s a renter,” said the woman, whom Patch is not identifying. “He’s new actually. He rented a room with my son.”

The woman said she is “completely freaked out” and that she believes her son found the man as a renter for his home in the 3700 block of E. Holmes Avenue “through an ad.”

“He lived with my son for three weeks, then the house across the street became empty, and he moved there,” she said.

Her son owns both houses, so he remained the man’s landlord, she said.

The suspect's landlord, who was also the suspect's roommate for several weeks, is the brother of a local suburban police detective.

She said that she doesn’t know much about the man, other than his first name, because she couldn’t reach her son Sunday night because he was being interviewed by the police on Sunday night.

“He called to tell me he was being questioned and wouldn’t be able to talk,” she said.

“He was quiet. He worked second shift,” she said of the alleged shooter, who has not been named by authorities. “They (her son and the shooter) both worked a lot, so they never got to see each other.”

She said she remembered the man had just broken up with his girlfriend because “he mentioned that to my son. Then he wanted to move on his own. So he moved to the duplex across the street.”

@Bren -

What makes you think that the break-up motivated the cold-blooded murders?

Bren-

There are other ways to handle a break up. Paul Bucher just sent an email to Mke Police Chief Ed Flynn's wife when Jessica let Paul know she was breaking up w/ him.

It just goes to show you...You never know.

As usual, everyone jumps to a conclusion... yes, definitely... he shot the place up because of a break up with his girlfriend. Now, if someone would just point to where it says that in the above story, we'll be all set.

The shooter fits the category called "active killers." An active killer is someone who searches out as many helpless "sheep for the slaughter" as he can find, as part of a plan to commit "suicide by cop." Schools, churches, places where disarmed and helpless people gather are the active killers happy hunting ground. Some sort of rejection, loss of job, loss of girl friend, even a perfectly innocent remark the killer takes as a slight is enough to trigger an active killers rampage.

So yes, the killer, whoever he was, may very well have been set off by "a broken heart."

He was reported to be a member of the US army & some are saying he had radical views, but didn't belong to any racist group. The reports are saying that there were most likely multiple handguns from one gunman.

I don't know if it had any motivation for the killing. Just gathering all background facts we can about the shooter. That was the info the mother of the landlord knew.

Time will provide the details which is better than speculation . Fortunately , the officers responded quickly and ended this before it could get a lot worse. Deadly force is really all that can stop a mad man when they engage in these type of acts. Sad situation and there is no justification other than this guy snapped in some way , shape or form . Speculation is pointless , but the fast responding officers really did save the day in a Big way.

Oh, btw, I'm a Punjabi.. and I'd kind of like to know who this was and what their affiliations are as I live nearby to where this happened and want to know whether I should logically consider moving to another part of the country (or possibly back home to India), or at least just be cautious in my daily activities for as long as I have to live in the Midwest.

Drizzit: I also am a Christian and I truly believe this person was filled with much anger & bitterness. He had it in is heart, and carried out his revenge, he was full of evilness. God says that He is the One that says" Vengence is His, saith the Lord God. It is so very sad to see these things happening in our country but such people need God to change their hearts. Yes, he was a very sick person and needed help, from psychologial & also spiritual help from the Lord. God says in His Word that these type of things will come to in the time before He comes to take the Believers of Him out of this cruel world. So, we as Believers in Him need to pray for our country & ask God to heal our land & our people. Blessings to you Drizzit.

Dalip, One of the news agencies think CBS said it was 3748 E Holmes the search warrant was executed at. They also id the landlord (you were correct on name). He has been interviewed by police and told to give no comment but did say the tenant checked out and worked 2nd shift. Your people have amazed me all day with their poise and calmness and unfortunate it happened under such circumstances but SE Wisconsin and hopefully far further than that has been given an education on Sikhism and specifically its differences from Islam starting with its view and treatment of women.

Any religion who mistreats their mothers, daughters and wives in the name of God worship a false one IMO.

Obviously you subscribe to some wing nut Islamaphobe site because only extremists treat their women like that. It is sad to see how easily people's opinions can be manipulated into hating another group. I know "Christian" men who have done worse to their wives. Should we let them represent Christianity.
It is just that kind of garbage being spewed that causes thinks like this to happen. Please take a minute to reflect on that.

The city/village of Cudahy is named after a ham producer, it's part of the South Side of Milwaukee. Not long ago, the area was off-limits to non-whites, the same with Oak Creek. GM's AC Delco is/was located there. just a little bit of history.

another case of mistaken identity?, the gunman probably thought t sikhs were muslims This could be a backlash against all the islamic hate that have been going on in wisconsin and michigan etc, honor killings, refusing to let seeing eye dogs into cabs, segregated swimming, islamic terrorism everyday everywhere, stealth jihad , islamic terrorism world wide etc. I hope my speculation is totally wrong and we should love muslims since they are also victim of islam .15 million Sikhs (20 million buddhists, 90 million hindus, millions of christians etc) have been murdered by islam in India over the centuries ..and now Sikhs are being victimized all over again in the new world ..being unfairly blamed for the evil actions of Islam world wide !. After sept 11 ignorant people shot and killed sikhs confusing them with muslims who were the terrrorists that killed 3000 innocent americans simply because they were non muslims. Muslims even kill their own muslims if they are from different sects or are not pious enuf ! This is so sad . Every community has people who do horrible things. Since this guy was a White Male and assuming a Christian. Should we blame Christianity and Bible to be the reason of this horrible crime. Like wise when a group of crazy Muslims commit a crime why do we associate the RELIGION and ALL those who follow it to be the same way. People need to really research about each and every religion. I don't believe that there is any religion who allows hate and taking lives of the innocent. People need to stop believing everything the media portrays. Why don't the media show coverage on average Muslims who are living around the world peacefully. A religion can never be wrong only those who follow it can be at fault and not all those who follow may be a good example of it. And saying that Sikhs are mistaken as Muslims and often targeted because of it, would that mean that if this was done to Muslims it was permissible. And even Mary mother of Jesus used to cover her head and so do nuns. Why so much hate against a Muslim women if she follows that in today's world. People need to come to terms with reality and see every side of the story not just the one that is portrayed in the media. These things are the major reason of so much hate among each other. Please spread love and tolerance.

Sadly there will never be any real answers to all of this scein the ONLY person who could answer them is dead.We can only speculate as to why this man did something so horriffic.I have heard SO many things that its hard to knwo whats the truth.Ive heard that he was a white supremiise and had a 911 tattoo on his arm, so did he think these were muslim people? who knows. What did the break up have to do with anything? who kows.I ahve to agree with a previosu comment that anyone who does horriffic things like this so many things twist their minds that its impossible to ever knwo why someone does soemthing liek this.I also have to sadly agree that it seems anytime ther is a crime against a religion or group of peole from another group that it is always "labled" &becomes about that &not the personal issues of the ones who are doing the crime tiself. Its almost as if we have to catorgize if so we can find some sort of justification or peace in our own minds as to why it happened? What I do know is that we are now living in a world where its not safe to take in a movie or go to church or anywhere else anymore because you never know who is going to have a bad day and decied to do soemthing foolish. What I do wish for is for is that these families can find some peace, having to relive this over and over again everytime they turn on the tv, or see a paper has got to be difficult, you cant really try to heal when the woud is open & everywhere.our hearts an prayer to everyone involved
