Originally slated to play Milwaukee King (7-2, 5-1 City Conference) in the WIAA Playoffs, Hamilton is now scheduled to go up against Germantown (5-2, 7-2 North Shore) in a Level 1 matchup.
However, despite a dominating regular season, Hamilton drew only a No. 4 seed in its WIAA Division 1 football sectional.
The two teams will square off at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hamilton. Pairings were released Tuesday afternoon after a judge ruled that the Shorewood/Messmer co-op was eligible for the playoffs. They were updated again less than two hours after they were released with altered pairings.
Hamilton (8-1, 6-1 Greater Metro Conference) closed out a fantastic regular season by crushing Brookfield East 47-7 to clinch a share of the league title. Along the way the Chargers beat Marquette for the first time and their only loss was a 56-38 shootout to Brookfield Central. In that game, running back Nick Patterson suffered a dislocated elbow and was lost for a couple of weeks.
Patterson is back in the lineup, however, and has combined with his brother Drew to rush for 1,917 yards and 25 touchdowns, according to statistics at WisSports.net. Quarterback Matt Judson has completed 61 percent of his passes.
King’s only loss in the City Conference was to Bradley Tech, a Division 2 playoff team. The Generals ventured outside the conference twice, against Howards Grove (21-0 win) and Kettle Moraine (49-6 loss).
Germantown lost twice, both within the North Shore Conference. The first loss was to Whitefish Bay (17-21) and later to Cedarburg (28-31).
