A Waukesha man is facing charges after he got caught stealing meat from Piggly Wiggly in Sussex on two separate occasions in January.
Mark S. Zyla, 53, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Tuesday with two counts of retail theft. If convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison and $10,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
On Jan. 21, Waukesha County sheriff’s deputies were called to Piggly Wiggly after an employee spotted Zyla take four steaks, then walk around nervously and conceal them and walk out the store. The total value of the steaks was estimated at $100.
A manager at the store told police that Zyla came into the store on multiple occasions and stole steaks, including an incident on Jan. 7 where he stole steaks and a couple of roasts from the meat department.
