VIDEO: Tom Barrett Addresses Twin Cities-Area Media in Hudson
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett attacks Gov. Scott Walker on jobs, education cuts, campaign fundraising and a lack of leadership.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett attacked Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker on jobs, education cuts, campaign fundraising and a lack of leadership while speaking to members of the Twin Cities-area media at Keys Cafe & Bakery on Wednesday morning.
Barrett spoke to the media just after delivering his stump speech to more than 150 people crowded inside the restaurant.
Barrett is the Democratic gubernatorial candidate facing Walker in a recall election on June 5. He was joined by State Sen. Kathleen Vinehout (D-Alma) and Democratic State Assembly candidate Diane Odeen at the event.
Barrett has similar events planned today for Menomonie, Alma, Mondovi and Black River Falls.

Very glad to see Barrett doing a tour with lots of stops in Western WI
.....Hudson resident Paul Bode was one of several supporters who came out to see Barrett. Bode said he supports Barrett partly because he thinks the mayor would perform better in job creation than Walker and would restore civility to the state.
"We in western Wisconsin don't always get the attention from Madison, so this is good for us," he said.

Convenient that Barrett was out of town on the day we find out that him and his police chief have been cooking the books on crime stats.

How can the guy rip on Scott walker for his campaign fundraising when Barrett is spending Milwaukee money campaigning all over the state? He must be using the millions he saved by using his opponents reforms... Funny how the left works sometimes...

I think Barrett is starting to believe his lies. I hope that gives him comfort as a 3 time loser.

Folks in northern WI have seen the lies of Gov Walker and are not impressed.

....In addition to the assault on the people of Wisconsin, the turmoil in Wisconsin is also about the lack of transparency and openness. It is about neighborliness, decency and mutual respect. Let us get ALEC out of Wisconsin and reclaim Wisconsin for the people of Wisconsin.
Out-of-state money is coming into Wisconsin for Walker. Do not let them buy our State. Keep Wisconsin for the residents of Wisconsin.
The way to do that is to defeat Scott Walker now and vote for Barrett.

It should also be noted that it was a 'drop in inspections', not drops in water or air quality that was being reported by the J-S article...

As Greg pointed out, the number of inspections may be down, but the inspections still meet federal requirements. There is also no evidence of decreased air or water quality resulting from fewer inspections.

So you are saying that we should protect our state at all cost? Good plan.
Industry pollutes, correct? Walker lost 30,000+ jobs, correct? Less jobs = less industry, you following me? Less industry = less pollution... Walker is great for the environment.
Vote Walker, save the environment.

The only reason inspections are down is because the DNR under the Doyle Administration was overzealous. They had no problem going after my family's estate because there were buried gas tanks on the property. Tanks that were there 40 years before the property was purchased. The harassment and intimidation went so far as to threaten to throw the executor in jail at one point. The DNR and Commerce Department were sharks when they saw $$$$$. It all began in 1999 and the estate is still not closed.

There might be a concern about ground contamination, mau. Before such things were clearly understood, people thought burying objects was a permanent solution. (For example and off-topic, a cause of periodic anthrax outbreaks was farmers burying infected cattle in fields, waiting a few years, then opening the field up to grazing. Anthrax is a persistent little bug and survive in its dormant state for years.)
Better safe than sorry.

This is a prime example of what happens when gov. gets to big. When you try and cut it back to a responsible level you are slammed as evil and not caring for this and that "cause"
If the liberals here actually knew the details, well they would be conservative.

Barrett attacks Walker on education?
Areas that embraced ACT 10 were not attacked. Only the ones that extended union contracts.
Recently, Waukesha School Board Superintendent Todd Gray said, "We're in a very good place, with no expected layoffs nor any expected program reductions." This was after erasing a $9.3 million deficit. This is happening all over Wisconsin with over $1 Billion Dollars saved. That's why you should vote Walker/ Kleefisch June 5th. www.reforms.wi.gov

Keith, don't forget to thank the public sector for being the only citizens to pay for your austerity measures. Oh. And by the way. All the money you stole from them was discretionary income. Wonder why business is bad in Wisconsin? And I resent having my tax dollars invested in propaganda websites like reforms.gov. It's like going to kochfacts.com. You are ignorant of what is really going on in school districts. Your lack of knowledge of labor, and how to manage labor successfully is not surprising giving your politics, cherry picking of facts, and divide and conquer agenda. Tune in to academia once in awhile to keep yourself grounded from the alternate reality you live in. What will a teacher be worth in this new right to work state you are trying to create in Wisconsin, for the out of state dirty money industries that are all in to denigrate our infrastructure and privatize everything . Scott Walker failed as county exec, and he is failing the citizens of this State with the agenda he is so proud of.
