Republican U.S. Senate candidates seeking to be on the general election ballot to fill a position being left open by retiring Democratic Sen. Herb Kohl will appear during a debate at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Waukesha County Expo Center.

The Republican Party of Waukesha County, in conjunction with The Wisconsin Reporter, is sponsoring the debate, which will be moderated by Charlie Sykes of WTMJ Radio.

Candidates Jeff Fitzgerald, Erich Hovde, Mark Neumann and Kip Smith have confirmed their appearance with Tommy Thompson invited, according to a news release from the Waukesha County GOP.

Thompson will not attend the event, according to a WTMJ article. People wanting to submit debate questions can do so Monday, April 9.

The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a reception and cash bar starting at 6 p.m. To register for the event, go to the Franklin Center’s website.
