The Best Present Under the Tree

Maybe it was something for your children—or for you. What's the best gift you gave or received this Christmas?

As children, it's often all about what they get. The hottest toy, video game or favorite outfit.

But sometimes, it's about the gift you can give. Finding the perfect thing for your mom, or your sweetie. Or giving something to someone who really needed the help.

Share photos of Christmas morning smiles by uploading one to our gallery, and tell us your stories of great gifts in the comments.

Merry Christmas to you and your families from all of us at Patch!

"Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all people; for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." --Luke 2: 10,11

The most beautiful, new, spacious addition to Greendale Community Church is one of the best of presents for the Village of Greendale. The Children's Service on Sunday, December 23, 2012 had the children lead the congregation for the first time through the newly prepared rooms. We held our Christmas Eve Services and again celebrated the best new gift for our facility. We welcome all.

Oh, Keith...that's perfect! Always a gift to open every day. I'd add my best gift came in the form of a great conversation earlier this week. A much needed time away from 'the norm' and has changed my perspective. A close runner up would be that my parents are still with us and enjoying the holidays along with my family.

I got a Scott Walker hand puppet. Our puppy growled at it , started to shred it and then peed all over it when we weren't ... LQQKING.

Well, there's also this, Bucky: http://host.madison.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/cleaning-company-fired-after-allegedly-damaging-or-staining-marble-floors/article_490de2f4-4bc5-11e2-a699-001a4bcf887a.html#ixzz2Fv1ab2fX

Protesters don't damage the State Capitol, private contractors do after the long-time state union employees with vast experience in maintaining the expensive marble floors are fired. How much will it cost to fix the floors, which could have been avoided by not bringing in contractors?

I also understand most of the damage to the Capitol was from media networks taping cords to the marble floor and leaving residue.

Scott Walker, "Conservative" of the Year. Merry Christmas.

I may give myself an overseas trip in 2013. A relative who often travels alone recommends it highly. I haven't been able to return for several years and I'm beginning to feel rustic and enclosed.

Bren and Bucky,
I don't think your attempts to goad someone into a heated discussion on a blog celebrating the joy of Christmas is going to work. I feel sorry that you can't find a reason to celebrate, and instead must convey the gloom that has taken over your heart.

Merry Christmas, and may you find reasons to celebrate in 2013.

For all our high and lofty talk we are but children looking for gifts under the tree at Christmas-time. http://www.schoolanduniversity.com/
The big or small boxes wrapped brightly with a bow and name tag sitting under a Christmas Tree at Christmas time.
