Sussex Week Ahead: Main Street Design Meeting and Sounds of Sussex
From the second Main Street reconstruction meeting to the first Sounds of Sussex concert, this is a list of places to be and things to do this week in Sussex.
Annual District Meeting
The Hamilton School District's annual budget hearing and annual meeting are slated for Monday starting at 6:15 p.m. in the Hamilton Fine Arts Center. The 2012-2013 budget has already been outlined at multiple meetings, and school taxes are expected to rise 2.8 percent. This meeting is where area officials come together, discuss the budget and officially take action on it.
Main Street Reconstruction Meeting
During the last meeting, the Village Board announced they'll no longer be considering roundabouts, so I wonder what they'll be talking about now? The meeting will start at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Pauline Haass Public Library, not the Public Safety Building like last time. The board has had time to officially review all citizen comments on the project, so they'll be discussing new details and ideas for Main Street. This meeting is open to the public.
Sounds of Sussex
Mark your calendars, because for the third year in a row, the Sussex Parks and Recreation Department is throwing its Sounds of Sussex event at Weyer Park. The first concert in the series is from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, and due to sponsorships, it’s completely free. Described as a high-energy rock with a “groovy” feel, Annie B & the Vagabond Company will perform live music at the event. Also, there will be burgers, brats and for the first time, beer!
Rumors Rockin' Rally
Rumors Bar & Grill is throwing its first ever event of the summer on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. The event's flyer reads: "We've combined our car and bike night together. Time to bring your classic cars, trucks, cruiser or motorcycle out to Rumors. Enjoy our live band outside. We'll have food on the grill. Enjoy our food and drink specials on the patio. And you won't want to miss out on our raffle prizes throughout the event."
